Wales vs England Six Nations 2011    Friday 4th February 2011 at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff

The 2011 Six Nations fixtures kick off on Friday 4th February with England travelling to Cardiff to take on Warren Gatland’s Wales in what is likely to be a feisty encounter.

England will bid to win the 6 nations for the first time since 2003 whereas the hosts were crowned the six nations champions in 2008.
This is likely to be Shane Williams’ last six nations match against England having announced his retirement from International rugby at the end of the season, just a week before the competition starts. The Ospreys winger has made a swift recovery from a shoulder injury and will look to add to his record 51 tries for Wales.

England, despite some injury problems will hope to win in Wales for the first time since winning the Grand Slam in 2003. Chris Ashton will hope to re-enact his performances from 2010 and make his mark on the six nations’ stage having only played one game in last year’s event.

Captain Lewis Moody will miss this match but hopes to be back for the game against France in late February.  Tom Croft is expected miss the whole of the six nations after damaging knee ligaments and he is joined on the sidelines by Courtney Lawes who also damaged his knee.

The only player to pull out of the Wales squad was back-rower Toby Faletau. He has been replaced by Rob McCusker
The Wales vs England six nations’ record has seen Wales win 52 of the 114 matches, losing 51 and drawing 12. England will be looking to level things up in this fixture and go on to win the championship.
